Top 5 Shopping Destinations for Families

Explore the cafes and shops of Berry and Kangaroo Valley, or head to Milton and Ulladulla to shop by the sea. We’ve got our top 5 shopping destinations, with something for every member of the family. Whether it’s the weather or you’re just worn out from all the beaches and bushwalks, it might be time to peruse the shops.

1. Berry

Number one on the list is the beautiful historic township of Berry. This quaint village is choc-a-block full of boutiques with a wide mix of inspiration and style. A big plus is that Berry offers up plenty of eateries for a variety of taste buds. The main shopping strip along Queen Street has a variety of stores stocking fashion, arts and craft supplies, books, jewellery and sports gear, just to name a few. Every member of your family will be sure to find something that floats their boat here. The kids will love looking through Goldfish Toys or grabbing something yummy to eat at the Treat Factory – they can even take part in a chocolate-making class here too! If the stars also happen to align and your visit falls on the first Sunday of the month, make sure to catch the famous Berry Market & Country Fair in the morning.

2. Kangaroo Valley

Another family favourite is the picturesque town of Kangaroo Valley. The kids will want to head straight for the Sweet As Kangaroo Valley with its array of old world sweet treats. The nearby antique and homewares stores will keep mum and dad happily entertained as well. The whole village is a lovely place to stroll through as the family makes it way from shop to shop, soaking up all he calm, country vibes.

3. Pyree

Take a scenic drive east of Nowra to the beautiful pasture lands of Pyree. This is where you will find the historic Jindyandy Mill, one of Australia’s oldest convict-built brick buildings. Nowadays, the mill is now host to an exciting array of gifts, crafts, fashion, food and more. There are 5 different specialty boutiques here that will keep everyone busy for a while. Adults can spend time browsing and shopping through antiques, collectibles and homewares while the kids indulge themselves at the lolly shop. After you’re all shopped out, Greendale’s Café & Restaurant is just nearby and the perfect spot to have lunch and soak up the relaxed ambience. The outdoor lawn overlooks the lush green grazing land, countryside and the mountains surrounding Berry and is an excellent place for the kids to roam about and play.

4. Milton

For an eclectic range of goods including plants, craft items, jewellery, children’s clothing, delicious confectionery, preloved books and plenty more, head down to the Milton Village Showground Markets on the first Saturday of every month. When you’ve finished strolling through all the market stalls, meander through the boutiques in the centre of historic Milton. The kids will want to rush straight to Fernando’s Fudge Cottage & Sweet Delights, at the Village Green. They’ll be warmly welcomed by Fernando and spoilt for choice, with a wide selection of fudge, lollies, frappes and smoothies to tantalise all the sweet teeth! For a more substantial meal after the shopping adventure, the entire family can sit down for a bite to eat at one of the many scrumptious local cafes.

5. Ulladulla

What Ulladulla lacks in old world charm, it more than makes up for in size and variety. If you love big chains or small boutiques, you’ll be able to find a great mix of both here. There is a great toy store for the kids and an outdoor store for adventure loving dads. The main reason why this coastal hamlet is a family favourite, however, is Ulladulla Funland, an amusement centre with rides and games galore for kids of all ages. Choose from video games, dodgem cars, laser tag, slides, tubes and many more. We’re sure that it will keep dad and the kids entertained for hours while mum gets her retail therapy fix in. Winning!
