Easter is just around the corner so we're here to help you get some inspiration for your South Coast escape. Our region will be jam-packed with plenty of things to do and places to see. We're here to take all the stress out of the holiday planning with our top picks for family fun adventures during the break. Booderee National Park
During the Easter School Holidays, Booderee National Park puts on an array of events over several weeks. Booking into one of these activities is the perfect way of getting the kids out into the wilderness, exploring what our great outdoors has to offer. They will get the opportunity to experience, explore and encounter the natural beauty of the Shoalhaven whilst getting to know a little bit more about this special piece of land. Events include a variety of Aboriginal experiences, including Campfire Yarns, Traditional Aboriginal Weaving Workshops and Introductions to Aboriginal Tools and Technology. In addition to these scheduled events, you can also go off on your own as a family and explore some of Booderee's fantastic walking trails, discover the stunning Cape St George Lighthouse or meander through the Botanic Gardens. Bundanon Trust Field Day
A day full of walks, workshops and performances, Bundanon Trust's Field Day event is one to definitely mark on the school holiday calendar. This year's program focuses on waste and how we can all contribute to keeping our planet thriving for many generations to come. A highlight for this year is the Waste Audit and Lunch Time Forum, lead by the young eco-warriors from Kiama High School. Guests will get the chance to hear their stories after appearing on ABC TV's War on Waste and gain some more knowledge about caring for our environment. In addition, there are many walks scheduled, including the Bush Tucker and Weed Foraging with Diego Bonetto and the Take 3 for the Sea Walk with Monica Mudge. There's also an awesome DIY Beeswax Wrap workshop scheduled to help kids try and reduce their single-use plastic consumption at home and school. Blessing of the Fleet Festival
A must see Easter event in the south of our Region is Ulladulla’s spectacular annual Blessing of the Fleet Festival. This year, it will be held on Easter Sunday 21 April 2019 and is one of the biggest festivals on the South Coast of NSW. Live music from Josh Rawiri will kick off this year's celebrations from 10am followed by the always colourful parade with many fun and interesting floats. The Blessing of the Fleet pays homage to Ulladulla's fishing roots and honours the Shoalhaven's rich naval history. This is an excellent family event but there's also a dedicated Kids' Zone filled with art and craft activities, a kinder gym, Lego corner and face painting. This year, there'll also be an interactive show performed by Livewire Studios.
Partake in a special cultural exploration with local Aboriginal elder, Deirdre Martin. In the Easter school holidays, she'll be running some walking tours in Jervis Bay and Morton National Park. All guests get the opportunity to go out into the wild with Deirdre as she guides the group through the local landscape, educating everyone about different native plants and their uses. The tour also includes a traditional, native lunch of tea and damper whilst having a go at some weaving. This experience is an excellent way for all members of the family to really connect with our wilderness and learn more about the Shoalhaven's rich, Aboriginal heritage from an important member of our community.

Tilbury Classic Ocean Swim
The Tilbury Classic Open Water Swim event takes place at Culburra Beach and is an Easter Saturday tradition in our region. It costs just $30 to enter the event and under 18s swimmers can also participate, with a few conditions for the younger entrants. The route for the morning guides swimmers around the beautiful Tilbury Cove Headland and through sparkling waters filled with tonnes of sea life. This is an exciting community event, bringing together swimmers from near and far. And for those who'd prefer to not get their feet wet, the ocean swim is a fantastic spectator's event too. Come down and support all the swimmers by cheering them on as they cross the finish line! The swim is supported by the incredible volunteers and crew from the Nowra - Culburra Beach Surf Life Saving Club who raise funds for their little Nippers Program.

WilderQuest Forest Flyers: Seven Mile Beach
Combine creativity and craft with the beauty of the great outdoors at a WilderQuest Forest Flyers session. This fun kite workshop will be taking place in picturesque Seven Mile Beach National Park, where you'll get a bit of bush and a bit of beach, all in one location. All equipment is provided and the kids will have the opportunity to build and decorate their very own kite and then launch it into the sky along the shoreline.

Easter Egg Hunts
It wouldn't be an Easter holiday without a good old fashion Easter Egg Hunt! We've got a few different events happening across the region during the break so it's easy to try and find one that's close to where you're staying. The Milton Ulladulla United Hospital Auxiliary is hosting their annual egg hunt At Lions Park Burrill Lake, neighboured by lovely Burrill Beach. To be held on Sunday, April 14 there'll be a sausage sizzle, drinks and also hand made goods on sale. All proceeds will enable the purchase of vital medical equipment and patient support for Milton Ulladulla Hospital. The Easter Egg-Stravaganza held at Nowra Library on Monday 15 April will have plenty on offer, including cookie decorating, games, crafts and a photo booth. And the Ex Servos Club in Ulladulla is putting on an Easter Kids Disco and Egg Hunt from 5:30pm-8:30pm on Thursday 18 April, just bring a gold coin donation to join in on the fun, with proceeds going to the Milton Ulladulla Junior Bulldogs.
Jervis Bay Easter Celebrations
Jervis Bay comes alive over Easter with some awesome kid-friendly events right near the water. The White Sands Festival on Easter Saturday is held down at Huskisson Sports Grounds and filled with over 100 exciting market stalls and ongoing entertainment throughout the day. There's something here for the entire family, with exhibits including cars, bikes and all things vintage, amongst many others. You won't want to miss the morning town parade at 10.30am, filled with marching groups and floats galore. During the break, Jervis Bay Maritime Museum also puts on a special kids' holiday calendar with various events that will keep the young ones entertained. There are drama, art and circus workshops alongside an exciting Pirates Exhibition, plus treasure hunts scheduled for every day of the school holidays, hooray!
Kids in the Kitchen at Meroogal
A visit to beautiful Meroogal House is already a spectacular day trip on its own. The 'living museum' tells a fascinating story of four generations of Shoalhaven women and their South Coast community. The property provides a wonderful snapshot of our region's history and helps to educate children on how their ancestors lived before them. An added bonus over the Easter break is that Meroogal House is hosting a special Kids in the Kitchen event, where children can learn to make old-fashioned recipes, completely from scratch. They'll get to make their own butter, damper and lemonade just like people did back in the old days!

Art Meets Environment
These fun and free workshops are an excellent school holiday activity for kids who love arts and crafts but also love Mother Nature. Participants can make a bush themed artwork and learn about the local flora whilst channeling their best creative selves. All materials are provided by local artist Julie Sydenham who will be there as an expert guide for the creative process. There will be two sessions running at South Pacific Heathland Reserve, located on Dowling Street in Ulladulla. Make sure to get in quick by emailing or messaging them on Facebook if your family is interested as this event is likely to fill up quickly!

Greenwell Point Kids Fishing Workshop
The kids will love learning how to throw in a line and catch a few fish down at Greenwell Point. NSW Fisheries runs an incredible fishing workshop for all the young anglers who want to hone their skills. The four-hour classes, running on Tuesday 23 April are for 8-14 year olds, focusing on fun ways of exploring fishing techniques, learning about the all-important rules and regulations and many other practical fishing tips. Cost per child includes all necessary equipment for the day such as a quality rod and reel, shirt, hat, tackle box and even a little extra show bag.

Nowra Aquatic Centre
Make a splash in our newly refurbished Nowra Aquatic Centre. The venue features a 50m outdoor pool for those who want to swim laps. Or if you just want to have a bit of fun in the water, the Splash Play Park is always entertaining, plus the 'Vortex' and 'Rampage' waterslides will get the adrenaline pumping! The on-site Splash Café is also super handy and means that you won't have to pack lunch for the little ones. With an extensive menu including family favourites like wedges and nuggets, there's also a large number of pastries on offer in addition to gourmet sandwiches and wraps. Shoalhaven Libraries - Kids' Events & Activities
We have four amazing libraries located in Nowra, Milton, Ulladulla and Sanctuary Point - and all of them are hosting a bunch of entertaining events throughout the Easter school holidays. Younger kids will adore the Possum Magic Storytime sessions, where they can come dressed up in their best Possum Magic costumes and read through this iconic children's book as a group. The Lego Challenge is a great way for kids 5 years and up to test their Lego skills with others. And the Yoga for Teens workshop at Ulladulla Library is fantastic for beginner yogis who want to learn how to switch off from the devices and focus on calming down the body and mind. Melbourne Transformers - South Coast Pop Up
Get in on all the action with the Melbourne Transformers who will be making their way to Ulladulla Ex Servos during the April school holidays. Performances from Optimus Prime and Bumblebee will include plenty of songs and dances and there'll be a meet and greet with all the characters after the shows. Make sure to get some photos of the kids with these amazing real-life Transformers up close!

Do you have a little creative one in your family? Then book them into a photography workshop run by passionate local Karin from L'Esgargot Ivre Photography. This Focus on iPhoneography class is run by the team at Creative Escapes and is a great activity for kids and parents alike. There's no need to invest in expensive camera gear, literally just bring the camera that we all own - the one in your smartphone! It doesn't matter if you're on Apple or Android, the workshop will guide you on how to take better phone photos and which photography apps you should download to boost your image making game.

Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery
A thriving hub of art and culture is the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in Nowra. During the Easter school holidays, this art gallery also becomes host to a range of kids' art experiences and interesting workshops. There are also events scattered throughout the rest of the year as well. A workshop here will let the young ones' imaginations run wild as they explore different craft techniques with a bunch of different materials and equipment. The Printmaking Patterns class is great for children who love clothing and textiles and the Wearable Art class lets kids print their very own designs onto a tote bag or t-shirt. Chocolate Making Workshops
An excuse to play around with and eat some chocolate? We don't think there'll be many kids who'll say no to this workshop! The Treat Factory in Berry has always been a popular pitstop for travelling families who want to sample a little sweet delight. During the Easter Holidays, these chocolate connoisseurs open up their Bean Bar to the little ones and share all their expert chocolate making knowledge. This fun, education and hands-on workshop will give all participants the chance to learn more about chocolate, taste a bunch of different flavours and make some Belgian chockie treats to take home at the end of class. Each workshop runs for about 1 hour and is recommended for kids 5-years-old and up.

KidZip at Trees Adventure
The kids can fly high with the team at Trees Adventure in Nowra during the Easter school holidays. The seasonal KidZip activities don't run all year-round so make the most of visiting during the break for this very cool adventure. The instructors will take your little monkey up into the treetops for a 2 hour session that involves ziplining and climbing through the course. The Kids Zip experience is only available for 8-12 year olds but the other ropes courses inside the park are open to kids from age 4 and up. This is a great way for the kids to explore their way through the rocky cliffs and trees along the magestic Shoalhaven River. Parents are also more than welcome to participate too, can't let the little ones have all the fun, right?

Relax with a Movie
A fantastic wet weather option to keep in your arsenal is a good old fashioned trip to the movies. We have a bunch of lovely, town cinemas where you can watch a film in a cute and quaint theatre during your holiday stay. On the third Friday of each month, Kangaroo Valley Hall transforms into Valley Movies, so this means that on Good Friday, they'll be hosting film screening over Easter. Make sure to check their Facebook page for up to date details of all upcoming events. You can also sit back with some popcorn and catch a movie over at the Roxy Theatre in Nowra or Huskisson Pictures.
