An exhibition exploring the forgotten history of oyster reefs in New South Wales, and the work now underway to restore these important ecosystems, developed by the Australian National Maritime Museum in collaboration with the NSW Department of Primary Industries.
Combining First First Nations knowledge and western science, ‘Bidhiinga’ (which is a Dharawal word for ‘oyster’) examines the value of oyster reefs and they’re importance for local communities and estuaries. Discover the art and design of an oyster shell, bring an oyster reef to life with augmented reality, and learn what a healthy marine ecosystem looks like.
The Bidhiinga exhibition is part of the exciting collaboration between the NSW Department of Primary Industries and the Australian National Maritime Museum, and is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Marine Estate Management Strategy.
