Steel City Strings presents The Composer is in the Room - Nowra
Steel City Strings is back in 2020 to present this exciting concert event. This local ensemble will be taking audiences on a musical journey through the works of celebrated Australian composers. Be one of the first people in the world to hear a new composition ‘Cinque Forme d’Amore’ (‘Five Kinds of Love’) by Elena Kats-Chernin, voted the most popular Australian composer in 2019’s ABC Classic’s Favourite Composer countdown. This piece was commissioned by local philanthropist Sue Kirby in memory of her late husband Judge Jack Goldring. Also featuring ‘Nothing is Forever’ by local composer Matthew Hindson, Ann Carr-Boyd’s lively ‘Fandango’, Moya Henderson’s spiritual Aboriginal themes in ‘The Dreaming: Utterly Sacred: In Honour of 40,000 Years’; Andrew Ford’s evocative, sparkling ‘Bright Shiners’, and ‘Blue Poles’ (from The Manhattan Epiphanies); and the deeply moving ‘Elegy in Memoriam Rupert Brooke’ by Frederick Septimus Kelly. The APRA/AMCOS award winning ensemble will energise audiences with the unique sound of Australian music and culture. Come and celebrate the music from your region! Due to current advice on public gatherings, please contact the host of this event to confirm it is proceeding as planned.
