The art galleries on display in Shoalhaven are a hidden gem you should visit without delay on your next trip!

New South Wales’ South Coast has charmed many Australian artists for decades. Because of its famed scenery and coastal aura, our region is a place that allows creativity to thrive. Australian painter Arthur Boyd certainly had a deep passion for this part of the world. So much so, that he donated his famous studio, Bundanon Trust, to the Australian people. It is certainly worth taking a self guided or guided tour of the estate and enjoy walking trails, stunning architecture and works from a variety of praised Australian artists.

Our large, creative hub, Shoalhaven Regional Gallery undoubtedly features excellent touring collections. For example, each year the gallery welcomes a vibrant exhibition program of contemporary and tradition artworks. In addition, there are also many other smaller galleries across the region for you to see. These intimate spaces are a great way to see some great local talent. As a result, you just might end up buying a lovely artwork from the country’s next big star!

What’s more, you can learn a little bit more about our strong Indigenous history through art. We showcase striking Aboriginal works at Giriwa Garuwanga Art Gallery in Ulladulla. Unlike the other galleries listed, it is owned and run by First Nations peoples and features artworks and products for sale, produced by local artists. Displaying contemporary and traditional Aboriginal art, this gallery is a great place to stop by and soak up local Indigenous culture.
