Bawley Beach

Bawley Beach

Bawley Beach is protected by the large southern headland (Bawley Point) which features two popular surf breaks.

On the northern protected side of the point there is a jetty and a boat ramp making for great fishing and paddling. The break near the jetty is called Guillotines and is popular with body boarders. Guillotines is a famous surf break, popular with body boarders and short boarders who like shallow barreling waves. The waves break onto the rocks allowing the crowd to get right up close to the surfers – they put on a pretty spectacular show especially in bigger swell!

The jetty was built in the 1890s. Known as The Gantry, it was part of a timber mill and was used to ship out timber until the early 1920s. Sadly, the timber mill burnt down in 1922, and many years later the jetty was destroyed by a storm. The jetty was re-built the following year, 2017, officially as a fishing platform. Today, the jetty makes a perfect spot for the kids as a  popular jump spot into crystal blue waters.

We recommend paying a visit to the nearby Bawley Point Reserve that homes rugged national parks and the coastal village of Bawley Point producing the perfect setting for a myriad of adventures. In this picturesque spot on the NSW South Coast, enjoy outdoor pursuits like swimming, fishing and boating, or culinary exploits at the nearby winery and berry farm.

GETTING TO BAWLEY BEACH

Bawley Beach has a couple of carparks; a larger one near the jetty at the southern end (off Tingira Drive) and a smaller carpark near the middle (off Johnson St). Bawley Point is on the NSW south coast, about three hours drive south of Sydney.
