Bawley Vale Estate occupies 40 hectares of unspoilt bushland that’s just 3km from the tiny township of Bawley Point and its gorgeous stretches of beach.
The estate features 100 olive trees, more than 150 various fruit trees and a wide variety of grapes, including cabernet sauvignon, verdelho, chardonnay, shiraz and chambourcin.
Savour the wines in a dramatic high-ceilinged modern-industrial cellar door, where owners Marg and Chris Watt will make their presence felt, running tastings, offering tours, and generally being all-round genial hosts.
It’s a family-friendly spot (the Watts have four children and “a bunch of grandkids”), there’s a tranquil lake, picnic lawns and a menagerie of adorable farm animals including alpacas, goats, deer and cows. Dogs on leashes are welcome.
